HELP! Anyone here got experience editing existing HUD widgets?
I already have JPEXS, Flash Pro CS4 and CS6. I had Sothink but have just uninstalled it as I couldn't get the preview panel working for frames. The guide linked above states that you should use CS6 and schlangsters source for creating new widgets, and CS4 with mardoxx's source if you're editing existing. It also says not to cross the streams - anything originally compiled in CS6 needs to be edited in CS6, and same for CS4.
So I have decompiled sqmwidget.swf using JPEXS>Export to .fla
I have then placed sqmwidget.fla and sqmwidget.as into the corresponding folder in mardoxx's source and tried to open the .fla with CS4 and it errors saying incompatible file type. So I assume it has been made with CS6. So I move the files to schlangsters source and sure enough it opens. However none of the components in the library list seem to be linked to anything in the .as file (right click on a component and hit Properties and there's nothing in the Actionscript Linkage section).
So I'm hoping there is someone around here with experience doing this who can quickly point to the error of my ways and put me on the right path. Ideally and ELI5 from taking the SQM swf form the mod through to recompiling/publishing it again after making the edits?

To mod Isaac you need to have some tools, All of the tools that I use are free except for one so sorry about that :(
Before you get into modding Isaac I would really recommend you have some knowledge with programming action script 2

You some sort of text editor so you can type code into the action script file, I like notepad++ because it works great with almost all programming languages and it is FREE :D

RUNS VERY SLOW THOUGH
First thing we have to do is get the Isaac swf file, I recommend you use spider mod for this because it is a lot easier for debugging purposes...

once you have a fresh download of spider mod just extract everything to a folder, then open that folder
It should look like this
Now go to the Data folder of spider mod and find a file called "isaacspidermod.isc" then copy this file to somewhere and then rename the copy to Isaacspidermod.swf
There you go now you have the swf file for spider mod.
now we need to convert your isaacspidermod.swf file to something that you can edit...
So let's get Flasm(go to the top of the post for the download link)
First we need to open the zip file of Flasm and extract it to the folder where you put your isaacspidermod.swf file
Then go to the folder and hold shift then Right click on a empty part of your folder and click "open command window here"
Here is a gif for the people who didn't understand that
In that window put this in with out quotes "flasm -d isaacspidermod.swf > Isaacspidermod.as"
It should only take a second, once it is done you can now open it up and make modifications :D
note to recompile the code just type this in "flasm -a isaacspidermod.as" in the command window
