1500€ multipurpose Black Friday PC build
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- I'd use it for many demanding purposes, so I need it to run smoothly when I simultaneously have around a hundred Chrome tabs open, with one or more videos playing, at the same time I stream with OBS, and use Photoshop / ZBrush or Maya / any Video editing software / play Minecraft, LoL, Overwatch, Slime Rancher or similars / run one or more Virtual Machines of some sort, or do programming, app/videogame developing, etcetera. To sum it up, I'd like to purpose this computer to multimedia production, streaming, light server hosting, lightweight gaming (60-90fps at 1080p is the bare minimum I'd ask for) and multitasking in general.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
- My maximum budget for the day of purchase would be around 1500€; I have a total budget of 2000€ but I was planning on getting a graphics tablet too (people speak wonders about Wacom's Cintiq 16, which would cost around 500€ -big brain time, I did the math-, but I'm open to suggestions). As I'm going to try and buy all of this with reduced price (I state the well known date in the next point and in the Title), if I get a discount of at least the 10% in the total for the PC, we could get playful with a budget of 1600€ as of today for it (that'd be around 1750$, if it helps somehow).
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
- I'm planning on buying it on Black Friday (November 29th) so I can save some bucks just in case I have any misfitting in my PC+graphics tablet budget but trying to invest as much as possible for the best combo available, given the budget.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
- Only the tower. I already own functional peripherals which I will upgrade progressively in the future.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- I'm in Spain, and planning to purchase the parts from a well known local online store ([pccomponentes.com](pccomponentes.com)), including the ensambling of the machine for 50€ (I don't trust these clumsy hands of mine, and it's not that much in proportion to the total budget). As for the graphics tablet (is it even legal to talk about it here? Well, it technically is a peripheral), I'd try and purchase it from macnificos.com (a friend of mine got hers with a student discount of almost 100€, so it seems worth it to give it a try).
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- Reusing my monitor (BenQ GL2250), keyboard and mouse (both HP stock ones from half a decade ago but still working fine), webcam (Vimicro USB Camera (Altair)), printer (HP Officejet 4620 series), graphics tablet (Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch), and not much more appart from a USB connected multi-SD reader and my always trusted wired phone headphones.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- I'm not really interested in overclocking as long as my processor isn't struggling to fulfill simple tasks, which I don't think should happen anywhere close to 5-10 years in time with a good enough one. Same applies to GPU. I'd rather not risk the integrity of the component; I've been told that a closed liquid refrigeration system would work nice with stuff like this, specially on AMD Ryzen processors, but I think I prefer to stick to the Intel i7 family; in that case, I wonder wether if liquid refrigeration is still a must, or if stock coolers will suffice.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)Oh, boy here we go! I'd want...
- The best i7 processor i can afford (already got my eye caught on an i7 9700K; I want my computer to be able to put up with the next 10 years of new software withouth struggling).
- A single fast and durable SSD storage unit with capacity of 1TB (in my current computer I only used a little more than half TB so I suppose this, along with an external 1TB HDD I'm currently using to store my media creations, that should be enough; although 2TB would be really nice). No HDD, just this one drive.
- Fast enough RAM to run smoothly; about capacity, I'd say 16-32GB should do (the more, the better here too).
- A mid-high tier graphics card, if capable of ray-tracing, better; I was thinking about something along the line of Nvidia RTX 2060 (I already own a 1050 Ti but I had to put it back inside its box because apparently, my current computer couldn't handle it, most probably because of its low power supply, so I'll just resell it or keep it just in case).
- CUDA and OpenCL sound good.
- A good sounds card.
- A good wireless adapter with access to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (I'll mainly use cable, but I prefer to have those options available).
- A decent CD/DVD readewriter.
- A power supply I can trust, with 80+ efficiency, gold certificate or higher and enough power for the computer to run optimally, (maybe 20% extra capacity just in case I try to upgrade something in the future?).
- The cooling system(s) you think may be necessary to keep the system healthy if I push it to do intensive tasks.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- A sober metal box, full tower; black or dark gray is good (details in bright blue would be cool, but not a must); in the front I need to have the disk readewriter, headphone and microphone jack, at least 2 (max. 4) USB-A 3.1 or higher connectors, and if possible, an SD card reader. In the back, the rest of connectors (HDMI, VGA, at least 4 (max. 8, preferably 6) more USB-A 3.0 or higher connectors, internet cable, power plug, etc.). Preferably no "gamer" stuff such as bizarre box shapes, crystal/plastic transparent sides (could still tolerate this if it helps the budget, but it should be to the left side of the box, for the right side will be hit by sunlight from the window in my room; unless you believe otherwise), nor fancy led stuff; just a good ol' plain rectangular prism. Need side, back and/or top ventilation, up to your criteria.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
- I don't need one; just the machine. I'll install it on my own, when I'm done with the backup of my current PC.
Extra info or particulars:Here's my current PC's User Benchmark results.
And here are the original specifications of my current PC by the time I bought it before I upgraded its RAM and graphics card.
It'd be sweet if this machine could have notably better overall performance than this HP Pavilion 15-cs2013ns laptop and, obviously, than my current PC.
Thanks in advance for your help!
(and forgive my broken English)
PC Build for Graphics Work
Build Help:What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
Work with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCad, ZBrush. Gaming is secondary.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)
While gaming is the secondary concern, high-end settings are icing on the cake. I presume a PC built for the aforementioned graphics work could handle it well.
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
In what country are you purchasing your parts?

This is chiefly the replacement of components in my current build, specifically the CPU, motherboard, GPU, and potetially the RAM. Components I foresee reusing are the chassis, PSU, and hard drives, but if I stay within my budget I could see replacing some or all of these components. I am undecided between the i7-7700k and the i7-7600, nor am I married to the motherboard. I intend to replace my RAM with whatever is most advisable.
